Leadership Opportunities

Student Leaders Play a Key Role

St. Andrew’s-Sewanee students develop leadership skills through clubs, class activities, sports, and participation in student/faculty committees. Being selected to serve as a Proctor, a Blue and Gold Guide, or a member of the Honor Council is regarded as one of the highest forms of recognition a student may earn.

Proctors are seniors chosen for their leadership abilities. They assume many responsibilities on campus, especially in the residential houses, and are charged with setting examples among the student body. To be a Proctor students submit an application and are chosen by students and faculty.

Blue and Gold Guides are a group of student leaders chosen to represent the school by giving tours to prospective students and their families, and assisting with school functions. Blue and Gold Guides are chosen by application and interview.

The Honor Council is a select student-faculty committee that reviews disciplinary infractions. Student members of the Council submit an application to be considered by students and faculty who choose the Honor Council.

The Student Vestry members are chosen to serve as a lay oversight committee on religious events and issues in the school. Members of the Student Vestry provide thoughtfully inspiring sermons at several of the weekly Eucharists throughout the year. Vestry members are chosen by students and faculty.

Boy Scouts participate in a local troop that has graduated numerous Eagle Scouts.
