Outings

In addition to weekend and evening activities, SAS sponsors several class and all-school trips throughout the year. In recent years, students have enjoyed weekend camping trips to Stone Door, a rafting trip down the Ocoee River, and a trip to New York City to see 'The Gates, Central Park, New York, 1979-2005" by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and trips to Memphis to attend the Beale Street Festival and visit Graceland.

Each year the senior class begins its final year at SAS with a class retreat to the Buffalo River and ends the year with a retreat at Tremont in the Smoky Mountains. The junior class takes an annual trip to Washington, D.C. or Philadelphia. Sophomores hone their narrative skills at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee. Ninth graders come together as a class on a canoeing trip and campout along the Natahala River.
