Proctors

Proctors are seniors chosen for their leadership abilities. They assume many responsibilities on campus, especially in the residential houses, and are charged with setting examples among the student body. Juniors may submit an application to be chosen to be a Proctor for their senior year. The finalists are chosen by a vote by the students and faculty. Prior to assuming their position, the Proctors go through special leadership training just before the opening of the new school year. Among the Proctors' responsibilities are weekend duty in the Union, assisting the Teacher-in-Charge with student checkouts, supervising students studying in Simmonds Hall on weeknights, and planning and running the new student retreat. But being a Proctor isn't all work. The Proctors introduce the faculty to new students, often with song and dance, and plan a few "blowing off steam" parties throughout the year.
