Parents' Council Supports Numerous Faculty Projects
Each year the SAS Parents' Council organizes numerous events and activities for the school community. The leadership group of 29 serves as a vital communication link between parents and the school and, supported by most of the parents and guardians of SAS students, helps to organize Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week, numerous theme nights in the dining hall, the Mountain Family program and Middle School activities. Through their two major fundraisers of the year, the annual auction and Trails & Trilliums, the Council raises funds to support their two main programs: Faculty Professional Development and Parents' Council Grants. This year the Parents' Council allocated $15,000 for Faculty Professional Development, essentially doubling the amount available to teachers for advanced study, travel, workshops, etc. Through the Parents' Council Grants they funded every request for special equipment purchases and new campus initiatives.
