St. Andrew's-Sewanee School is pleased to announce that Derek J. Perkins will be joining the school's administrative team as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Perkins comes to SAS from the Darlington School in Rome, Ga. where he has served as Director of Admission for four years. Prior to that he was Associate Director of Admission at Culver Academies in Culver, Ind. and Director of Enrollment Systems, Admissions Counselor, and Assistant Director of Admissions at Marian University in Indianapolis. Perkins holds a B.A. in psychology and sociology from Indiana University and an M.S. in sport studies from Miami University. He succeeds Anneke Skidmore who leaves SAS to assume the position of Assistant Director and Dean of Admission for Summer and Outreach at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass.
SAS Director of Athletics Rob Zeitler, who led the search committee, said of Perkins, "Derek is a seasoned admissions director that understands the science of admissions. His experience and positive energy impressed everyone. He will be able to create a clear admissions game plan and carry it out, involving all the key players. Derek recognizes the importance of our school's values and mission and of attracting, admitting, and enrolling students who help fulfill that mission. In the end, Derek is all about building positive relationships with prospective families."
Perkins will be joined in Sewanee by his wife Kimberly, and daughters Kathleen and Elisabeth.
