Be ready to soar from the very first day of school! Designed primarily for SAS students needing additional English language preparation, ELSI provides personalized instruction to prepare students for the unique demands of the SAS classroom.

Academic Program

Get ready to soar in your academic year classes! ELSI will improve your English comprehension and communication skills and help you to better understand and exceed classroom expectations.

Classes include:

Speaking and Discussion Workshop uses short texts from history and English classes to prompt class and group discussions. Students develop their academic speaking and classroom participation skills.
Reading Comprehension Workshop pushes students to expand their abilities with the use of longer and more difficult texts. The class will focus on vocabulary acquisition and grammar skills.
Writing and Composition Workshop prepares students for the demanding expectations of SAS teachers. Students will learn to properly structure an essay, cite sources, and more.
Listening Workshop focuses on listening skills over a wide range of topics. This course will be especially helpful in preparing students for lecture course, social interactions, and the TOEFL exam
Chemistry or Physics will not replace the students academic year courses but will help to prepare them for science study in English.
Art will be a welcome opportunity for enhancing and developing the student's creativity through use of indoor and outdoor spaces for drawing, painting, and other art forms.

Classes meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday-Friday. Classes will not exceed 10 students per class.

Language learning doesn't just take place in the classroom. Afternoon activities will include hiking, sports, swimming, and more. In the evenings students will have time to work on homework, hang out with friends, and relax.
