Independent Study Project

Just before break, we got to hear from junior Sam Weintraub on the subject of his independent study-- computer-aided design, otherwise known as C.A.D. In his presentation, Sam showed his completed digital projects, including a teapot and an MP3 player, the process of submitting his designs to a 3D printer, and demonstrated how to use the software by engineering the digital model of a bowl right in front of our eyes.

Guided by faculty advisor Matt Sparacio, Sam was able to use SAS's 3D printer to scan, mirror, and replicate a missing piece of farm equipment for Matt over the course of his semester. Congrats, Sam!
