The SAS Climbing Club finished #3 in the 2020 Interscholastic Climbing League competition. Five SAS climbers finished in the top 20 - #1 Evan Fox '20, #10 Sylvan Huber-Feeley '20, #13 Huxley Hume-Allingham '23, #16 Luca Malde '23, and #18 Gabriel Pongdee '20.
The SAS team practices as part of the winter Outdoor Adventure afternoon program and during open climbing nights twice a week in the school's Bouldering Shed or on area rock walls as weather permits. The team is coached by Outdoor Education Coordinator Michael Short.
The Interscholastic Climbing League (ICL) provides a competitive climbing program for middle and high school students in the greater Chattanooga area. Student climbers participate in six organized meets at the three Chattanooga climbing gyms.
