New State Qualifications at the MTHSSA Region Swim Meet

On Friday, January 26, members of the SAS Varsity Swim Team competed in the MTHSSA Region Swim Meet held in Nashville at the Centennial Sportsplex. Junior Lara Stahl earned new TISCA State Swim Meet qualifying times in the 200 Individual Medley with a 6.69 sec time improvement and a final time of 2:28.12 and the 500 yd Freestyle with a 9.38 sec time improvement and a final time of 5:51.72. Sophomore Sarah Russell Leonard set new personal bests in the 200 yd Freestyle with a time of 2:04.43 and the 100 yd Freestyle with a time of 58.07. Leonard had already qualified for State in the 200 yd Freestyle and earned another State cut in the 100 yd Freestyle as well as a 10th place finish at Regions. Senior Reese Michaels had an exceptional meet with new personal bests in the 200 yd Individual Medley with a time of 1:53.28, the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:09.24, and the 50 yd Freestyle as the lead-off leg of the 200 yd Freestyle Relay with a time of 28.18, while junior Toby Van de Ven also set new personal bests in the 50 yd Freestyle with a time of 25.30 and 100 yd Backstroke with a time of 1:02.34. Stahl, Leonard, and Michaels combined with teammate Loulie Frazier for new season best times in the 200 Medley Relay (2:06.29) and 200 Freestyle Relay (1:53.28) as well to round out the fast swims. The Boys Relay Team of Jack Frazier, Van de Ven, Will Reel, and Aidan Gruman swam a new season best in the 200 yd Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:49.47. 

Stahl, Leonard, and teammate Jack Frazier will travel to Nashville again February 9 and 10 for the TISCA State Championship Swim Meet.
