Virtual Year-End Festivities Begin Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m.

The student body of St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School will celebrate the 2019-2020 academic year and honor its fifty-one graduating seniors during virtual festivities Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16. All links will be available via www.sasweb.org/year-end-virtual-festivities-2020.

On Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m. links to the Annies and Senior Slideshow will be posted to the website. The Annies are a treasured SAS tradition for which each senior’s advisor prepares and performs a short song, poem, or presentation to honor their senior in a sometimes serious and sometimes light-hearted way. The senior is also presented with a ceramic angel created by Burki Gladstone and her first-semester 8th-grade ceramics class. The design is by alumnus Ben Potter '89. The Senior Slideshow is a compilation of photographs honoring all of the members of the Class of 2020.

On Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. links to the Honors Day and Commencement ceremonies will be available. The ceremonies will include the announcement of major awards; a link to all academic, arts, athletic, service, and leadership awards; announcements of faculty and staff departures and service awards; prayers; readings; musical offerings; and more. The 2020 valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced and their speeches will be available. There will also be a presentation of the Class of 2020’s senior gift and banner.

For the virtual Commencement exercises, there will be a reading of the names of all of the members of the Class of 2020 with an accompanying photograph followed by an all-class blessing.

The 2019-2020 academic year at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School will officially end at noon on Saturday.

Seniors will be mailed their diploma, a copy of their Annie, the accompanying Annie (angel) ornament, and their senior class mug. Any student receiving an honor or award will receive that item via mail as well.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy the festivities. Links may be found at www.sasweb.org/year-end-virtual-festivities-2020
