Coaching Staff

Head Coach
Coach Black is the Head of the Upper School. As SAS head coach, her teams have had six state appearances including one state championship and one state runner up finish. She was named the 2008 Tennessee Girls’ Tennis Coach of the Year. A University of the South graduate, she was named to the All-SCAC tennis team for three years, helped her team take 4th place in the 1990 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships, and was recognized as Sewanee’s Outstanding Female Athlete.

Assistant Coach
As a high school student, Coach Prehn lettered in both varsity cross country and varsity tennis at Saint James School in Maryland. An history and English teacher at SAS, Coach Prehn enjoys running on Sewanee's extensive trails and competing in area races as well as playing tennis. He is wilderness advanced first aid certified.
