On behalf of the Global Local Outreach Club, St. Andrews-Sewanee students Zoe Wallace, Aidan Smith, Lucy Carroll, and Sophia Paterson recently presented Sally Hubbard SMS '61 with a check for $1500 to support Canon Gideon Byamugisha's vocational school in Uganda. Aidan visited the school in 2016. Sally runs the U.S. fundraising operations for the school. The money will be used to educate children from disadvantaged families in the Kampala area.
James Claude Mutyaba, Executive Director of the Friends of Canon Gideon Foundation, responded "Please return our endless , deepest thanks and at most gratitude to Aidan and all members of his Global Outreach Club at his High School. We say Thank You for the support and the partnership."
Canon Gideon also sent his thanks, "Thank You, Aidan and The Global Outreach Club at your high school that raised $1500 for the Hope Institute...Thanks very much Lucy, Sophia, Isabella and all our LOVING YOUTHS IN AND OF SEWANEE for Loving Uganda and East Africa's young people. Hope you are coming soon to see us!!!!!"
The students raised the money through Grub Days and Bake Sales.
