Year-End Virtual Festivities 2020
Welcome to our Year-End Virtual Festivities!
While we know that nothing can take the place of being together under the Commencement tent, we hope that you will enjoy the following. Please know that it was lovingly created by faculty, staff, and students as a tribute to the Class of 2020 and the 2019-2020 Academic Year.
The Annies are a treasured SAS tradition for which each senior’s advisor prepares and performs a short song, poem, or presentation to honor their senior in a sometimes serious and sometimes light-hearted way. The senior is also presented with a ceramic angel created by Burki Gladstone and her first-semester 8th-grade ceramics class. The design is by alumnus Ben Potter '89.
In early June, seniors will be mailed a printed copy of their Annie and their ceramic angel along with their diploma, a printed copy of the Honors and Commencement Program, their cap and tassel, their class mug, and certificates, etc. for any honors they received.
For the ease of viewing, we have combined our Honors and Commencement ceremonies.
Our Honors Day ceremony celebrates the many ways that SAS students contribute to our community through academics, service, leadership, athletics, and the arts. It is also when we announce our valedictorian and salutatorian and the student leadership for the following school year.
Our Commencement ceremony is a solemn service that recognizes the members of the Class of 2020 as we bless them and send them out into the world to lead lives of honor and loving service to God and to others.
